Agon Demiri to make Macedonian Cup debut for Struga
The 16-year-old, who debuted for Struga’s senior team this season, could feature in Wednesday's 1/32 final against Pobeda (Valandovo).
Sixteen-year-old Agon Demiri is set to make his debut in the Macedonian Cup tomorrow when Struga Trim & Lum travel to face Pobeda (Valandovo) in the 1/32 final. Demiri first appeared for the senior team aged 16 years and six days in a friendly against Ohrid and later made his official Macedonian First Football League debut against Bregalnica.
Young player ready for cup chance
Demiri said he feels ready to contribute in the cup match and that the squad has prepared well. "We are well prepared and worked hard during these days. We know an important match awaits us and we will give our maximum on the pitch to achieve a positive result and qualify for the next phase," he said.
The teenager described his feelings about breaking into the senior team and playing for his hometown club. "I am very happy and proud of my debut in an official match. It is special to play for the team from my home town. I hope I will have the chance to play also in the Cup and, if I get the opportunity, I will try to use it in the best possible way," Demiri said.
He called the debut an achievement he will remember and expressed gratitude for the coaches' trust. "For me, it is a very big achievement and a moment I will remember for a long time. I am very grateful for the opportunity I was given and for the trust of the coaches. Of course, debuting at this age is something I dreamed of, but I believe I still have a lot to learn and achieve in football," he added.
Demiri also outlined his ambitions for steady progress: "My next dream is to continue playing and improve every day. I want to gain as much experience as possible, have a successful career and gradually reach the highest levels of football." He noted that in the match against Bregalnica he came on in the 75th minute as a substitute for Lassana Diako.
The cup tie between Pobeda (Valandovo) and Struga Trim & Lum will be played on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, at the city stadium in Struga, kick-off 16:30 local time.
