Police carried out checks after e‑mail threats claiming responsibility by Islamic State; no explosive devices discovered so far.

Several public institutions in Tirana received threatening e‑mails this morning in which the sender claimed that bombs had been placed inside the buildings, the Albanian police said.
After the messages arrived the police immediately began inspections at the addresses named in the threats. So far no bombs or other explosive devices have been found.
Investigation under way
The Directorate for Cybercrime Investigations, together with the Counter‑Terrorism Directorate and other law‑enforcement agencies, continued working to identify the sender and to trace the e‑mail account used to distribute the threats.
