Aleksandar Tanevski named North Macedonia U21 coach — first test includes Russia U20

Aleksandar Tanevski has been appointed head coach of the North Macedonia U21 national team, taking over from Goran Stanic who did not finish the current qualification campaign.

Tanevski moves into the U21 role while keeping close ties to the U20 setup — a position he has held for some time and through which he has overseen friendly fixtures and the team’s participation at the Mediterranean Games.

Immediate schedule: Russia U20 friendly, then two U21 qualifiers

On 28 September the North Macedonia U20 side will host the Russia U20 team in Skopje. The friendly is scheduled to take place at the Petar Miloshevski complex and will be handled under Tanevski’s direction as he balances responsibilities across both age groups.

For the U21s, the remaining two matches of the current qualification series are set for 1 October at home against Montenegro and four days later away against Sweden.

According to available information, Tanevski plans a comprehensive overhaul of the U21 roster, intending to call up players who will be eligible for the next qualifying cycle as he prepares the team for future campaigns.
