Aleksandar Vučić announces protests outside RTS after new parliament is formed

Aleksandar Vučić announced that his political list will hold protests in front of Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) once the new parliament is constituted, saying the public broadcaster has fallen under a climate of uniformity.

In a message posted on social media he said that Serbia had in only 10 days become a "banana republic" and warned that the new authorities could undermine the country’s economic stability.

Vučić also referred to the incident in which an Air Serbia aircraft was turned back from a flight to Moscow, and criticized recent developments connected to demonstrations and the work of the police and the prosecutor’s office.

Calls for quick government formation

He added that the outcome of the recent U.S. special elections in which Democrats won could further complicate geopolitical relations and push up oil and fuel prices, arguing that Serbia needs a quickly formed government to face upcoming economic and foreign-policy challenges.

Vučić said his list will begin demonstrations after the parliamentary constitution is completed; he framed the protests as a response to alleged pressure on media and state institutions under the incoming authorities.

The announcement came through his social media channels; his statement did not include a precise date for the first protest or details about its size and organisation.
