Alta Bank AD Bitola says it is liquid and operating normally

Alta Bank AD Bitola says it is liquid and continues to operate normally, after a decision by the National Bank of Serbia left the Serbian Alta Bank without a licence.

The bank published a statement on its Facebook page confirming that all branches and ATMs are functioning and that customers have uninterrupted access to their funds. "Customers can freely access their deposits, withdraw cash and carry out all banking transactions under the usual operating conditions," the statement says.

Separate legal entity under local supervision

Alta Bank stressed that the Bitola institution is a separate legal entity, registered in North Macedonia and governed by domestic law. It is under the direct supervision of the National Bank of North Macedonia, the statement adds.

"The events related to the bank in Serbia do not automatically mean a change in the financial situation or legal status of Alta Bank AD Bitola," the bank wrote, emphasizing that the circumstances in North Macedonia are fundamentally different from those in Serbia.

The statement underlined that the bank operates on professional, business and regulatory principles and that it has its own capital, assets and liabilities. Deposits of individuals are insured through the Deposit Insurance Fund under legal terms and limits. "We assure our customers that the Bank continues regular operations and fulfils its obligations. Their funds are available and there are no restrictions on the use of banking services beyond the usual operating conditions," the bank concluded.
