Embassy of North Macedonia in Abu Dhabi issues urgent warning to citizens in Saudi Arabia

The Embassy of North Macedonia in Abu Dhabi issued an urgent warning on 11 October 2026 to Macedonian citizens staying in Saudi Arabia, especially in the capital Riyadh, citing a deteriorating security situation and a series of rocket and drone attacks.

Safety advice and immediate steps

The embassy urged citizens to be extremely cautious and to strictly follow instructions from Saudi security authorities and civil defence services. When a security alert or siren is activated, people should immediately seek shelter indoors and stay away from windows and glass surfaces.

Travelers were advised to avoid public gatherings, military facilities and the border areas with Yemen. The embassy also warned about strict restrictions on photographing, recording or sharing footage of the attacks on social media, noting that Saudi authorities impose serious penalties for such actions.

Citizens were asked to keep mobile phones charged and to report any suspicious objects or remnants of projectiles to the local authorities.

Air traffic was highlighted as a particular concern: because of the security situation, delays and cancellations of flights are possible. Passengers were advised to check the status of their flights with the airline before traveling to the airport.

The warning arrives amid intensified attacks on Saudi Arabia. On Saturday, 10 October 2026, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh was again targeted in an attack that injured several people and temporarily halted airport operations. Earlier, attacks on the airport on Thursday resulted in the deaths of three Saudi citizens.

For all Macedonian citizens needing urgent assistance, the embassy in Abu Dhabi made the duty telephone number +971 56 441 7532 available. The diplomatic mission also asked that the information be shared with other Macedonian citizens in Saudi Arabia.
