Stojanche Angelov orders air tractors to Miletino as wildfire threatens village
Director Stojanche Angelov ordered two air tractors to Miletino on 06 September 2026 after a large fire threatened the settlement; Tetovo crews are on site.
Stojanche Angelov, director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue (DPR), said on 06 September 2026 at 18:07 that two air tractors have been dispatched to Miletino in the Municipality of Brvenica where a large wildfire is approaching a village.
“A short while ago I ordered the air tractors to take off for Miletino, Municipality of Brvenica, where there is a large fire near the village which threatens the settlement,” Angelov said.
Aircraft to open access for ground crews
Angelov explained the two aircraft were engaged to help create conditions that will allow firefighters to enter the forest and operate more safely. Firefighting teams from Tetovo are already at the scene, but access and suppression work are impeded by steep, hazardous terrain.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and coordinating aerial and ground assets to prevent the blaze from reaching populated areas. Local officials warned residents to be prepared for possible evacuations if the fire spreads.
Angelov also reported a separate fire in the Ramno area of Skopska Crna Gora; smoke from that blaze is being felt in Skopje.
