Bus carrying Polish high‑school students stuck on Orebić–Korčula ferry ramp

A coach carrying Polish high‑school students became lodged on the cargo ramp of the Orebić–Korčula ferry yesterday, blocking the route for more than an hour.

The ferry was due to sail at 14:00, but the bus could neither drive onto nor depart from the vessel. According to witnesses, the ferry captain attempted several manoeuvres to free the vehicle without success.

Passengers and crew tried to move the bus

Amateur video shows people outside the bus pushing and rocking it in an effort to shift its position. Crew members from Jadrolinija also attempted to resolve the problem and tried using snow chains, but that did not dislodge the coach.

The vehicle was ultimately released only after all of its luggage had been unloaded.

The ferry service on the Orebić–Korčula line was suspended in both directions while the incident was resolved; cars queued on both the Orebić and Korčula sides.

Requests for information were sent to Jadrolinija, the police, the Emergency Medical Service and the Captaincy. It was not reported whether anyone was injured.
