Safe City system goes live in Ohrid, Struga, Kichevo and Debar on 12 October
The Ministry of Interior activates the 'Safe City' traffic surveillance in the Ohrid policing area from Monday, covering four western municipalities.

The Ministry of Interior said the "Safe City" traffic surveillance system will begin operating in the Ohrid policing area on Monday, 12 October, extending coverage to the municipalities of Ohrid, Struga, Kichevo and Debar.
Interior Minister Pance Toshkovski announced the rollout during a visit this week to the Ohrid Sector for Internal Affairs (SVR Ohrid) and the Regional Centre West.
System rollout and testing
The ministry said the "Safe City" system has been active nationwide since 1 February this year. During an adaptation phase the cameras were tested and improved, and citizens were not sanctioned for traffic violations recorded by the system while it was being calibrated.
Police urged drivers in the affected municipalities to obey traffic rules and act responsibly to improve road safety.
Commenting on road-safety trends, Minister Toshkovski said that compared with the same period last year the number of people injured in traffic accidents has fallen by 20 percent — "that is, 34 fewer victims."
