Four fires remain active; 18 wildfires recorded by 18:00
Center for Crisis Management reports four active fires, two under control and 12 extinguished; officials urge caution amid high temperatures.
By 18:00, authorities recorded a total of 18 fires in open areas across North Macedonia. The Center for Crisis Management says four of those fires remain active, two have been brought under control and 12 have been fully extinguished.
Locations and current situation
Active blazes are burning in the municipalities of Novaci, Dolneni, Strumica and Makedonski Brod, where low vegetation, stubble and shrubs are affected. Emergency services continue to work on containment and suppression at these sites.
Two incidents — near Delchevo and in Makedonski Brod — are reported as under control, with relevant services intervening on the scene.
Among the fires that have been put out are the one in the Skopje neighborhood of Momin Potok and outbreaks in Petrovec, Butel, Gostivar, Tetovo, Vasilevo, Kichevo, Mogila and Prilep.
The Center for Crisis Management appealed for caution because of high temperatures and an increased risk of new open-area fires, urging citizens to avoid actions that could spark flames.
Authorities say they will continue monitoring weather conditions and the situation on the ground while allocating resources to priority locations until the risk subsides.
