Four suspects arrested after robberies that left two elderly dead in Gjorche Petrov

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announced that four people have been detained on suspicion of two fatal robberies in the Gjorche Petrov municipality. Investigators say the suspects who directly took part in the attacks later confessed during questioning.

Confessions, DNA and items found link detainees to the crimes

According to information obtained during the investigation, two people carried out one of the robberies that ended with a killed victim, while three attackers were involved in the other incident that also resulted in a death. The fourth person arrested is suspected of assisting the perpetrators — he worked as a driver who transported them after the attacks; authorities have not confirmed whether he knew of the planned robberies or the killings.

Police found items in the driver's car that are connected to the robberies, including a jacket and other objects. DNA traces were also collected at the robbery scenes where the two elderly victims were killed and these traces have been linked to the detained suspects.

The two deadly robberies took place within five days on the territory of the Gjorche Petrov municipality. A man was found dead on October 22, while the body of an elderly woman was discovered yesterday in a house on Gjurchin Kokale street. Both killings occurred during the course of robberies.

Investigators continue forensic and procedural work as they prepare charges and further steps in the case.
