Cyclone from Genoa to bring heavy rain to North Macedonia on Oct 9–11
A Genoa-centred cyclone and moist air masses will bring intermittent and locally heavy rain, mainly over western regions, from October 9 to 11.

North Macedonia will be affected by a cyclone centered near Genoa and associated moist air masses from Friday, October 9, through the weekend (October 10–11), bringing a notable change in the weather, meteorologist Slavcho Poposki warned.
"The weather will be changeably cloudy with occasional rain showers that will at times be heavy, especially in the western regions where locally a more significant amount of rain will fall (over 30 liters per square meter). Locally there will also be conditions for development of unstable cloudiness, accompanied by downpours, thunder and strengthened wind," Poposki said.
Poposki added that Skopje and its surroundings will also see changeable cloudiness with intermittent rain that may become locally heavier during the same period.
Expected impacts and timing
The heaviest precipitation is forecast for western parts of the country, where some areas could receive more than 30 liters per square meter. In isolated spots, short-lived intense showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds are possible, increasing the risk of localized flooding and temporary disruptions.
Despite the rain, temperatures are expected to remain relatively high overall. Nighttime minimum temperatures should rise slightly because of the cloud cover, while daytime values will not change significantly.
Residents in vulnerable locations—especially in western municipalities and low-lying urban areas—are advised to monitor weather updates and secure outdoor belongings ahead of the expected episodes of heavier rain and wind.
