CCM: 22 open‑space fires registered — eight still active

The Center for Crisis Management (CCM) reports that, by 18:00 today, a total of 22 open‑space fires were registered across the country: eight remain active, three are under control and 11 have been extinguished.

Active blazes are recorded in the Municipality of Studenicani near the villages of Morane, Vrtekica and Ramni Gaber, where mixed forest is burning. In the Municipality of Macedonski Brod fires affect Dragov Dol and Lokvica, consuming low vegetation, low‑stem forest and shrubs.

In the Municipality of Prilep the fire near the village of Chanishte continues; authorities say there is a front extending toward the villages of Krushevica and Lopatitsa, and another toward Crna Reka and the village of Orle in the Municipality of Novaci, where low vegetation is burning.

Other locations and containment

Vegetation, shrubs and rubbish are also burning near Tajmishte and Gorno Strogomishte in the Municipality of Kichevo, near the Gostivar village of Tumcheviste, in the village of Strimnica in the Municipality of Zhelino, and at the Bukovo landfill in Ohrid.

Fires now listed as under control include blazes in the Municipality of Gevgelija near the villages of Prdejci and Smokvica (dry grass, thorn and abandoned fields), in the Municipality of Gostivar near Gjonovica and Simnica (low vegetation and shrubs), and the landfill near Delchevo. CCM adds that fires have been extinguished in several municipalities where low vegetation, mixed forest, dry grass, thorn and rubbish had burned.

Local officials say the village of Chanishte is currently safe, but firefighters face a multi‑day fight to secure all fronts and prevent new flare‑ups.
