Nine open-space fires recorded; five remain active, Center for Crisis Management says

As of 13:00 today the Center for Crisis Management (CCM) reported a total of nine open-space fires across the country. Five of those fires remain active, one has been brought under control and three have been extinguished.

CCM listed the active fires as follows: in the village of Gorno Lisiche, Aerodrom Municipality, where low vegetation, trees and corn are burning; along the Skopje–Veles highway opposite the Makpetrol BP station in Ilinden Municipality, where low vegetation is on fire; in the village of Turnovo, Bosilovo Municipality, where stubble is burning; at the landfill on the exit from Kriva Palanka; and in the village of Simnica, Gostivar Municipality, where low vegetation, stubble and bushes are burning.

One fire contained, three extinguished

CCM said the fire above the village of Zelenikovo in Zelenikovo Municipality — which affected forest and low vegetation — has been placed under control.

Fires that have been extinguished include the blaze in the village of Grchec, Saraj Municipality; a fire near the New City Cemetery in Prilep; and a fire in the village of Crvivci, Kichevo Municipality.

The Center for Crisis Management warned of the rapid spread of fires and urged vigilance as teams continue monitoring the affected areas.
