Davor Zdravkovski reaches 200 appearances for AEL Limassol

On 26.10.2026 Davor Zdravkovski celebrated his 200th appearance for AEL Limassol, a milestone that caps a long and steady spell in Cyprus for the Macedonian midfielder.

AEL sit top of the Cypriot league after 11 rounds, and Zdravkovski serves as the team captain for a side whose sporting director is another Macedonian figure, Ivan Trichkovski. The squad also features high-profile teammate Stevan Jovetić.

Despite AEL losing the city derby against Aris over the weekend, attention at the match shifted to Zdravkovski's anniversary — the player's 200th outing for the Limassol club.

Career and club history

Zdravkovski, a product of Makedonija G.P., is in his eighth season with AEL, although he spent two seasons in Scotland with Motherwell in the intervening years. His longevity at the Cypriot club has made him one of the team's most experienced figures.

Earlier in his career he captained the Macedonian under-21 national team and accumulated 27 appearances at that level. Despite strong club form, he has not been given a chance to establish himself with the senior national team.

There is a recurring critique that opportunities for senior national selection are limited because many players who wear captain's armbands abroad also occupy places in the national squad, leaving less room for others to break through.
