Rezart Memedi receives first senior call-up ahead of Austria clash in Vienna
The 23-year-old guard could make his senior debut today at 16:05 CET in the Sport Arena as North Macedonia starts the second pre-qualifying round for EuroBasket 2029.

North Macedonia opens the second pre-qualifying round for EuroBasket 2029 today, August 30, 2026, meeting Austria at 16:05 CET in the Sport Arena in Vienna; a win on this trip would leave the visitors well placed to pursue their qualification objective.
The squad will feature two players making their senior debuts. American-born guard Moses Wright, who holds a Macedonian passport, is expected to combine with Nenad Dimitrijevic as one of the team’s primary on-court engines.
The other newcomer is 23-year-old guard Rezart Memedi, who previously represented North Macedonia at youth levels and has now been called up by head coach Jose Maria Berocal.
“I am happy to have received the chance to train with the senior team of North Macedonia and to be included in the coach’s plans. For me this is a great experience and of course a big motivation for the future. I feel excellent in the squad, the boys helped me fit in quickly.
For me every minute with the senior national team is a precious experience and I want to use it in the best possible way. I hope we will play a good game and that in the end we will have reason to be satisfied and to celebrate.
We trained hard and I think we prepared well for today’s match. We know Austria is a quality team and that a tough game awaits us, especially since we are playing on their court. Their loss to Cyprus away should not fool us.
Still, we also have our strengths; if we give our maximum and play according to our plan, we can hope for a good result,” Rezart Memedi said before today’s match.
