Part of drone with explosive found on Romanian beach

A part of a drone with an explosive charge was found this morning on the beach in the Romanian Black Sea resort Olimp, about 38 kilometres south of Constanta.

Found among sunbeds, access restricted

The remainder was found among the sunbeds on the beach, with the authorities confirming that the part contains an explosive charge. Access for tourists to the area is restricted while the inspection continues, and several people filed reports after finding the item.

Similar drone debris were collected last night on the breakwater of the coastal promenade in Constanta, near the legendary "Casino" in the city. Teams removed the parts and opened an investigation into their origin.

This is the sixth day in a row that drone debris have kept the population and authorities in Romania on alert, causing concern among local communities and tourists.

In recent days Romanian authorities have on several occasions dispatched fighter jets and helicopters to monitor reported drone activity near the border with Ukraine. Investigators continue with forensic examinations of the collected parts to determine whether they are linked to the attacks reported in the border region.
