Part of Thessaloniki inner ring closed tonight toward Evzoni

The Traffic Police in Thessaloniki announced a temporary traffic change affecting the city’s inner ring road tonight, 14 September 2026. From 23:00 until 05:00 on the morning of 15 September the section of the ring road heading toward the Evzoni border crossing (North Macedonia) will be fully closed to traffic.

Closure and detours

The overnight shutdown is required for construction work on the new highway overpass called "Flyover". Authorities say the works require a complete halt of traffic on the affected carriageway for the duration of the operation.

Information published in the local group "Greece Info" states that traffic bound for Evzoni (north) will be fully redirected through alternative city streets and boulevards, where temporary traffic signs have been installed. Drivers should follow the posted diversion signs.

Traffic toward Halkidiki (south) will remain open and is expected to run normally in all lanes.

Motorists planning night travel through Thessaloniki are urged to reduce speed, obey the diversion signage and allow extra time for their journey because central city routes may experience increased congestion during the closure.

Police and road crews will be on site overnight to manage traffic and the construction operation; drivers are asked to be attentive and patient while the works are carried out.
