Parts of Bitola lose water or face low pressure after electrical fault at Dovledzhik pump station

Parts of Bitola were left without water or experienced low pressure on Thursday as a fault in the electrical network at the pump station "Dovledzhik" forced a temporary halt in the supply of raw water. Ambient temperatures exceeded 30 degrees Celsius at the time.

Impact and company statement

The Public Enterprise Vodovod announced that the supply of raw (untreated) water was temporarily stopped after the defect was detected at the Dovledzhik pump station.

"This may cause a drop in reservoir levels, a fall in pressure, and in higher areas an interruption of water supply," the enterprise said.

As a result, residents in parts of the city reported either no water or noticeably weaker pressure, with the problems most acute in higher-elevation neighbourhoods.

The public enterprise did not specify an exact timetable for restoring normal supply in its initial announcement; further information is expected from its operational services.
