Protesters burn 'Table for dialogue' chairs outside Edi Rama's office in Tirana
Chairs placed Saturday morning as an invitation to students were set alight during an opposition rally called by the Democratic Party.

Protesters set fire to the chairs Prime Minister Edi Rama had placed in front of his office as part of his invitation to students for talks, in an incident that took place during an opposition rally in Tirana on 24 October 2026.
Chairs placed as a "Table for dialogue" were torched
The seats had been arranged Saturday morning in the space before the government building as what Rama presented as a "Table for dialogue," a symbolic invitation for student representatives to take part in discussions.
The fire occurred after opposition demonstrators arrived at the prime minister’s office for a rally organised by the Democratic Party in support of the students. Witnesses said the small set of chairs was engulfed and damaged by the flames.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Edi Rama had said the government remained ready to hear the students’ demands and warned that measures would be taken against those who employ violence during protests.
No official statement about arrests or police action linked to the burning has been reported yet.
