The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported that a two-year-old child from Kumanovo was poisoned with paint thinner and was transferred for further treatment to the Clinical Center in Skopje.

The police statement says: "Yesterday at 14:00 the General Hospital in Kumanovo reported that a two-year-old child from Kumanovo had been brought in who had been poisoned with paint thinner."

After receiving care at the Kumanovo hospital, the child was transferred for further treatment to the Clinical Center in Skopje, the MIA said.

Measures being taken

The police said that measures are being taken to clarify the case and that the investigation is ongoing.

As noted, this is not the first such case in the Kumanovo region: last year there were registered cases when children were poisoned after ingesting cleaning agents, disinfectants, and medications in tablet form.
