Head of State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate rejects SDSM criminal complaint as "political theatre"
Lazov called the SDSM complaint “political theatre” and said parties should first explain their own past actions on the Gostivar water problem.
The director of the State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate, Dr. Kiril Lazov, publicly rejected a criminal complaint filed by the SDSM that names him in connection with the contaminated water case in Gostivar.
In a post on social media Lazov described the filing as “another nebulous criminal complaint from SDSM, another attempt with political theatre to hide the lack of answers for their own actions.”
Background and the director’s defence
He urged the party to first explain what measures they took while they were in charge, writing that “instead of looking for culprits at press conferences through criminal complaints, they should first answer what they did while they were competent, what measures they took and what they failed to do regarding the longstanding problem with the water in Gostivar.”
Lazov added that assigning blame is easy but self-reflection is harder: “It is easiest today to point a finger at others. Much harder is to look at your own conduct from the time when you had responsibility and institutions in your hands.”
He concluded that such political manoeuvres will not alter his work and pledged to continue “professional, responsible and lawful work, exclusively within the remit of the State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate.”
