Djina Dzinovic says she has Hashimoto thyroiditis

Djina Dzinovic, daughter of folk singer Haris Dzinovic and fashion designer Melina, surprised her followers after she openly addressed her health in a social media video: she has been living with Hashimoto thyroiditis.

In the clip Djina explained why she felt awkward about the camera angle and the appearance of her neck. "I think I should hold the phone from above, and not let you see my double chin, I'm a little uncomfortable. I actually have Hashimoto and when I don't sleep, when I'm nervous or when I don't take my therapy, my neck swells," she candidly shared.

What is Hashimoto thyroiditis?

Hashimoto thyroiditis is an autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks the thyroid gland. The disease is chronic and often leads to reduced thyroid function (hypothyroidism), so patients usually require regular hormone replacement and medical monitoring.

Aside from discussing her condition, Djina's family situation has also been in the spotlight: her father, Haris Dzinovic, recently said they have "frozen relations" and that they almost have no communication since she left to study in Barcelona.

This summer Djina spent time cruising the Mediterranean, visiting more than 25 Greek islands accompanied by her mother Melina and Melina's new husband, the British businessman Jeffrey Arnold. Djina has been sharing scenes from the trip aboard Jeffrey's large luxury yacht and her posts have attracted wide attention on Instagram (@djinadzinovic).

She continues to post vlogs and snapshots of her everyday life while also speaking openly about the health challenges she manages publicly.
