Joheirry Mola crowned Miss World 2026 in Nha Trang
Joheirry Mola, 24, gave the Dominican Republic its first Miss World crown since 1982 and is known for teaching, journalism and her Voices of Tomorrow initiative.
The world turned its eyes to the Vietnamese coast as the 73rd Miss World final took place in Nha Trang, where 24-year-old Joheirry Mola from the Dominican Republic was crowned Miss World 2026 among 111 contestants.
Historic win and the final placements
Mola's victory closes a 44-year gap for her country: the Dominican Republic last held the Miss World title in 1982 with Mariasela Alvarez. The crown was passed on stage by last year's winner, Opal Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand.
Spain's Elizabet Reynes Alabern finished as first runner-up, while Taanusia Cheti from Malaysia took third place and won the Beauty with a Purpose prize. Contestants from Vietnam, South Africa and Eritrea completed the top six.
Beyond the pageant night, Mola brings a profile that blends academics, teaching and media work. She holds a degree in economics (management and administration) from Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) and in practice works as a literature and social sciences teacher in English.
She is also a contributing journalist for Univision New York (for the program Ventana a Quisqueya) and the founder and president of the social initiative Voices of Tomorrow, which focuses on expanding English education and opening opportunities for children and young people from vulnerable communities.
On what guides her, Mola told the audience: "The greatest gift you can offer is the opportunity that you once needed to grow, to move forward and to change your life." Her win was received as both a personal achievement and a spotlight on education-driven community work.
