DOM: Bogdanci killing is not a "tragic accident" — institutions must be held responsible
DOM says the teen's prior report of violence and the burned vehicle point to institutional failure and requests a full, transparent inquiry into who handled the case.

The DOM party says the killing of a 17-year-old girl in Bogdanci cannot be dismissed as a "tragic accident" or "yet another terrible piece of news" — it is a harsh reminder of institutional failure and of a protection system in collapse.
The teenager had previously reported violence and asked for help. Authorities had knowledge of earlier incidents of abuse, yet she did not receive effective protection and was later found dead in a burned vehicle. DOM asks bluntly: how do laws, protection measures and services that exist only on paper make sense if violence can escalate to this outcome?
DOM's demands for accountability
DOM is calling for an immediate, uncompromising and transparent determination of full institutional responsibility. The party wants clear answers to specific questions: who in the police, the prosecution and the social work centre handled this case; how was the risk assessed; were protection measures implemented and monitored; and why did they fail to prevent the fatal outcome?
DOM warns that institutions must not hide behind the phrase "acted according to protocol." The party adds that "When a woman or girl reports violence and is later murdered, that cannot be treated as a mere administrative lapse!" and insists the investigation must examine all circumstances and any procedural failures.
DOM stresses that the death of the suspect cannot be allowed to end the process of establishing responsibility for officials. "There must be consequences for anyone proven to have contributed to this tragic outcome through negligent conduct," the party says.
Rejecting empty statements and repeated promises that follow every femicide, DOM demands an urgent revision of all active reports of family and gender-based violence, individual accountability and concrete measures to remove institutional shortcomings. "DOM demands responsibility! We demand an immediate review of all active reports for domestic and gender-based violence, determination of individual responsibility and concrete measures to address institutional failures," the party states.
DOM calls for these steps to be taken now — not after another life is lost — so that a future victim can be saved.
