DUI asks whether deputy Customs director Mustafa Dauti's vehicle was behind the person arrested for a €17,500 bribe
DUI demands that the Ministry of Interior publicly clarify who was in the deputy director’s vehicle and whether he was questioned.
After an on‑the‑spot arrest of an assistant director at the Customs Administration on suspicion of receiving a €17,500 bribe, the DUI party has demanded immediate clarification from the Ministry of Interior over a new claim about the scene.
Requests for public clarification
“Is it true that at the moment of the arrest, immediately behind the arrested person's vehicle was the vehicle of the deputy director of the Customs Administration, Mustafa Dauti?” DUI asked today.
They asked the Ministry of Interior to publicly clarify four points:
- “Who was in that vehicle?”
- “Why was the vehicle of the deputy director of the Customs Administration at that place and at the time of the arrest?”
- “Were Mustafa Dauti or the persons who were in his vehicle questioned?”
- “Is it being investigated whether the case involving €17,500 is connected to other people in the hierarchy of the Customs Administration?”
DUI also warned that when an official is caught in the act of receiving a bribe tied to a public tender, the inquiry must not stop at the individual who accepted the money. The party said the entire chain must be cleared: who organized it, who knew about it and who stood behind it.
The opposition has urged the Ministry of Interior and the Prosecutor's Office to provide the public with clear and complete answers about the arrest and any possible links to other officials.
