DUI: Jeton Shashivari delays solution — 12 Albanian candidates will sit October exam in Macedonian

Political party DUI accused Justice Minister Jeton Shashivari of delaying a decision on allowing the judicial bar exam in Albanian, after the Ministry of Justice announced it will hold meetings with law students and faculty deans to discuss the matter.

Meeting planned but 12 candidates remain affected

The ministry has scheduled consultations that, according to the announcement, are intended to find a path forward for an Albanian-language exam. Meanwhile, 52 candidates are registered for the October exam session and will take the test in Macedonian; 12 of those candidates are Albanian.

DUI framed the ministry’s next steps as stalling rather than solving the problem. “This is not a solution. This is a postponement,” the party said, criticizing what it described as repeated patterns of promises followed by delays when public officials take office.

The party noted that Shashivari, who previously criticized the former justice minister as an academic, now seeks more time and consultations instead of implementing a concrete change. DUI asked: “If the judicial exam in Albanian is truly ‘on the path to a solution’, why should 12 Albanian candidates in the October exam period have to sit it in Macedonian?”

DUI demanded an immediate, enforceable decision rather than further talks and promised meetings, urging that the language issue be resolved without further delay.
