Two central stands at Belgrade Arena to be named after Partizan legends

KK Partizan announced that two central stands at the Belgrade Arena will be permanently named after the club's legendary coach and player, Dusko Vujosevic and Drazen Dalipagic, the club's president Ostoja Mijailovic said on social media.

"There are people whose names are not merely part of Partizan's history; they created that history. Therefore I have decided that the two central stands at KK Partizan's matches in the Belgrade Arena will permanently bear the names of two great people of our club," Mijailovic wrote.

He expanded on the dedication in a longer message: "The Dusko Vujosevic Stand — in honor of the coach with the most trophies in Partizan's history, the man who created generations of players, excellent results and left an indelible mark on the identity of our club. The Drazen Dalipagic Stand — in honor of one of the greatest players to ever wear the black-and-white jersey, the club's all-time leading scorer and a man whose name belongs at the very top of European and world basketball. Dusko and Praja are not just names from our past. They are part of the Partizan identity that we want to preserve and pass on to future generations. For this decision, I asked for the blessing of the Vujosevic and Dalipagic families, who happily accepted my initiative. From this season, every time we enter the Arena, their names will remind us who we are, where we come from and what history we have an obligation to preserve," the businessman added.

Records and legacy

Dusko Vujosevic spent 15 seasons on Partizan's bench (1987–1989, 1990–1991, 2001–2010, 2012–2015) and won 23 trophies with the Belgrade club: 12 national championships, five Cups, five ABA League titles and one international edition of the Radivoj Korac Cup.

Drazen Dalipagic played for the black-and-white team in two spells — from 1971 to 1980 and in the 1981/1982 season. He was a two-time Yugoslav champion, a winner of the Radivoj Korac Cup, and remains the club's all-time top scorer with 8,278 points in 307 official games, an average of 27.1 points per game.

The naming will take effect from this season and is intended to keep the club's history visible to supporters who visit the Arena.
