Two detained in Bitola and Prilep for starting open‑area fires
Two people were detained in Bitola and Prilep after being found starting open‑space fires, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
Police in Bitola and Prilep detained two people after finding them starting fires in open areas, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
Officers from SVR Bitola arrested 39-year-old E.K. of Bitola on August 14 at 21:15 on Jorgo Kostovski Street, at the site known as "Tepsija", after catching him in the act of setting a fire in open space.
Earlier arrest in Prilep
On August 13 at 23:10, police from OVR Prilep detained I.Č. from Prilep at a location called "Padarica". He was also found while igniting a fire in open terrain; a lighter was recovered on his person.
The Ministry said both cases are being fully documented by police investigators. After the documentation is complete, appropriate charges will be filed against the two individuals.
The Ministry did not provide further details on the scope of the fires or possible motives; investigators are continuing procedural actions in both municipalities.
