Two women killed in floods and landslide in northwest Spain

Two women died after floods and a landslide struck the northwest of Spain, and two infants were reported injured, emergency services in the autonomous community of Castilla y León said.

The fatalities were two women aged about 60 and about 80 years old, local authorities said.

A man who had initially been reported missing following the flooding in the village of Mansanedo de Valduesas was later found unharmed.

Fire brigade units and police were dispatched to the area, alongside members of the Civil Guard and medical teams, who responded to the incident site.

The two infants who suffered injuries were attended to by medical teams on site; authorities have not released further details about their condition.

Local officials and rescue services continue to work at the scene to assess the damage and assist those affected by the floods and landslide.
