Eddie Howe is once again linked with high-profile roles after leaving Newcastle at the end of July, with Manchester United and the England national team emerging as leading possibilities.
Two clear paths
Howe has been out of work since his departure from Newcastle at the end of July. During his time at St James' Park he lifted the League Cup in 2025 and led the club to qualification for the Champions League on two occasions.
Interest in Howe resurfaced this week around Old Trafford, where Manchester United have been searching for a long-term successor in their coaching ranks. His name has been linked to the club before, and, according to British sources, he would be prepared to consider an approach if the club’s hierarchy made contact officially.
Another route being discussed is the England manager’s post. Howe has been mentioned previously as a potential successor for the national team job, though he has not taken up the role to date.
For now, Howe remains an unattached coach whose next move could come quickly if either Manchester United or the Football Association decide to make a formal offer.
