One killed and ten injured after car hits group in Cannes

At least one person was killed and ten others injured after a man drove a car into a group of people in the French city of Cannes late last night, local authorities reported.

Emergency services said the collision occurred at a bus stop close to the town's railway station. Police and firefighters responded to the scene and treated the wounded before transferring several to hospital.

According to initial reports, 10 people were injured, four of them seriously. BFMTV, citing an unnamed source, reported a higher death toll — "two victims and eight injured".

Suspect detained, investigation under way

Police have detained a suspect in connection with the incident. Officials said the episode followed an earlier argument, but gave no further detail about motive or the suspect's identity.

Cannes, a city of about 110,000 inhabitants, is described in reports as being located in Normandy in north‑west France. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and asked anyone with information to come forward.
