Elif Elmas: I will play for North Macedonia while my legs serve me
Elmas told reporters on October 2, 2026 that playing at a World Cup is his ultimate goal and he will wear the national shirt while his legs allow.

Elif Elmas said he will continue to represent North Macedonia for as long as he can, speaking in an interview published on October 2, 2026, as the national team prepared to face Scotland on October 3, 2026 at Todor Proeski Arena in Skopje.
The midfielder discussed both his club career and his commitment to the national shirt, underlining that playing at a World Cup remains his chief objective.
World Cup ambition remains the priority
“It has always been my dream to play at the World Cup with North Macedonia. That is literally my ultimate goal. As long as my legs serve me, I am here for my national team. If necessary — I'll play even at 40 years old,” Elmas said.
Elmas spoke shortly before the League of Nations fixture against Scotland, which takes place on October 3, 2026 at the Todor Proeski Arena in Skopje.
He avoided naming any specific timelines for his international retirement, instead stressing willingness to stay available to the national team while his physical condition permits.
