Folk singer Suzana Gavazova posted an emotional Instagram response after Goce Dimovski said he would stop performing.
Show-business circles in North Macedonia were rocked after veteran multi‑instrumentalist Goce Dimovski announced he will stop performing, and fellow artists immediately reacted on social media. One of the most visible responses came from folk singer Suzana Gavazova, who published an emotional Instagram post with a symbolic photo of herself holding a mask.
In her message Gavazova thanked audiences for their support, answered persistent critics and defended a broad, inclusive approach to repertoire: "For me music has no borders, only emotion," she wrote, and stressed she will continue to sing and create for those who genuinely enjoy her work.

Gavazova also addressed the recent decision by Dimovski, calling it a worrying sign. "And honestly, when I read that a legend like Goce Dimovski is considering giving up, I ask myself: where have we come when people who truly deserve feel unnecessary? Do not let someone else's envy, malice or misunderstanding take away the love for what you do," she wrote, directly tagging Dimovski.
The announcement that alarmed the scene came from Dimovski himself, who used his Facebook page to inform colleagues and fans: "Dear colleagues and friends, I want to inform you that you no longer need to seek me for gigs and any kind of events, recordings… Publicly know that I do not do this anymore, except what is scheduled, thank you." The brief post prompted an outpouring of concern and support online.
Born in Skopje, Dimovski has been a long‑time member of the ethno group Synthesis and a former member of the Orchestra of Traditional Folk Instruments of Macedonian Radio Television (MRTV). He has represented Macedonian traditional music abroad, including performances at Berklee in the United States. Colleagues such as Naum Petreski also voiced support, and many hope the wave of public backing will persuade him to reconsider.
For now the scene watches and responds: prominent performers are using their platforms to thank fans, counter online critics and urge cultural appreciation so that artists like Dimovski remain on stage.
