FIBA Europe: watch out for Nenad Dimitrijević
FIBA Europe named eight players to watch for the second pre-qualifying round; Nenad Dimitrijević is among them after strong recent scoring displays.

FIBA Europe has singled out eight players to watch as the first games of the second pre-qualifying round for the European Championship 2029 kick off on 27 August 2026 at 15:50. Among those highlighted is North Macedonia's leading guard, Nenad Dimitrijević, who returned to the national team to help push the country toward the qualification phase.
Dimitrijević's recent form and role
Dimitrijević answered the call to represent his country and carries significant responsibility as the playmaker and primary scoring option. FIBA Europe included him on its short list of standouts because of his scoring ability and leadership on the floor.
One of the key reasons for the attention is his performance in the EuroBasket 2025 qualifying window: Dimitrijević poured in 43 points in an away game against Lithuania. Across five appearances in that qualifying cycle he averaged 26.2 points per game — figures that underline why coaches and analysts expect him to be the pivot of North Macedonia's attack.
Also mentioned among the names to watch is Moses Wright, who is expected to make his debut for the national side in the away match against Austria, a fixture scheduled for Sunday.
In the same group today, Cyprus meet Austria as the teams begin their campaigns in the second pre-qualifying round. The coming days will show whether Dimitrijević and the other highlighted players can convert individual form into team results.
Fans in Skopje and beyond will be following the matches closely as North Macedonia attempts to progress toward the full qualifying phase for the European Championship 2029.
