Filipce: Household basket reaches 90,000 denars — government rejects €600 minimum-wage proposal

SDSM President Venko Filipce announced today that the party will resubmit the bill to increase the minimum wage in Parliament. At a press conference, Filipce stated that the goal is for the minimum wage to be 600 euros, with state subsidization of contributions for the difference in the increase, so as not to burden private companies.

Drastic Increase in Living Costs

According to Filipce, the consumer basket has grown by about 10,000 denars in a year and a half. He pointed out that from 60,000 denars, it now amounts to nearly 70,000 denars, and if the costs for rent or a housing loan are included, the sum reaches close to 90,000 denars. "We will resubmit the bill to increase the minimum wage in Parliament again. The minimum wage should be 600 euros...", Filipce emphasized, stressing that workers must be able to secure a dignified life.

Criticism of the Government

The opposition leader directed harsh criticism at the government led by Hristijan Mickoski, accusing it of rejecting their proposal on several occasions and of offering no measures for any category of citizens. According to his claims, the government did not want to increase the minimum wage, which further complicates the living standard of citizens.
