The Financial Police has submitted a criminal complaint to the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Tetovo against M.N., the manager of a company that operates vehicle technical inspection stations, on suspicion of continued embezzlement under Article 354 of the Criminal Code.

Charges and alleged scheme

According to the complaint, between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2025 the suspect, using the company's authorisations, is alleged to have misappropriated cash paid by citizens and legal entities when registering motor vehicles — funds that were intended for payment of public dues to several institutions.

The complaint states the unlawful gain obtained for the legal entity amounts to 41.518.042 denari, to the detriment of municipalities, the Ministry of Environment, the Service for Assistance and Information, the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic Council for Road Traffic Safety.

Financial Police investigators also allege that, in order to conceal traces of the crime, the suspect carried out unlawful write-offs of public dues during 2022 and 2024 totaling 17.090.623 denari, reducing the recorded liabilities in the company’s accounting records and showing a smaller amount owed for public dues.

The Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Tetovo will now review the complaint and decide whether to press formal charges. The investigation remains open while authorities continue to examine accounting records and related documentation.
