Gazi Baba launches “Home Help and Care” programme for residents in need

Gazi Baba Municipality will roll out a new programme called “Home Help and Care” to assist residents who, because of age, health, disability or other life circumstances, need support to carry out daily activities in their own homes.

Today Mayor Boban Stefkovski signed an agreement with the Minister of Social Policy, Demography and Youth, Gjoko Velkovski, and the Secretary of the Red Cross of North Macedonia, Suzana Tuneva Paunovska, securing a grant that will fund the service. The Red Cross will implement the programme across Gazi Baba.

“Home Help and Care is not just a social service — it is concrete support, attention and human care for those who need it most. It is especially important that through this service we enable older and vulnerable citizens to receive appropriate help in their home, in the environment where they feel safest and most comfortable,” Stefkovski said.

The programme aims to provide practical, in‑home assistance tailored to beneficiaries’ needs, enabling them to stay in familiar surroundings rather than move to institutional care. Services will be delivered by trained Red Cross teams visiting households within the municipality.

Stefkovski described the agreement as an additional step toward improving living conditions for the most vulnerable groups and building a community in which care is translated from words into tangible help.

Municipal authorities also announced urgent mosquito‑spraying operations in Gazi Baba after a reported rise in cases of West Nile fever in the area.
