Large forest fire in Bulgaria: 200 hectares of forest and vineyards burned
Two "Cougar" helicopters and thirteen firefighting teams fought the blaze near Slavovitsa in the Pazardzhik region; no casualties were reported.
A large wildfire near the village of Slavovitsa in the Pazardzhik region consumed roughly 200 hectares of forest and vineyards, authorities reported as crews worked through the night to control the blaze.
Firefighting effort
Two Cougar helicopters of the Bulgarian Air Force were deployed to assist firefighters, dropping water on hot spots while ground teams battled flames that spread quickly across dry grasslands and vineyards.
The Ministry of Defence said the air forces remain on standby to support further extinguishing operations if required. The Pazardzhik Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior stated that thirteen firefighting teams were present at the scene during the night, joined by volunteers, forestry officials and police patrols.
No casualties were reported. Emergency services also said that road traffic in the area was disrupted and blocked for hours while crews contained the fire.
Authorities continue to monitor the area for flare-ups as cooling and mop-up operations proceed, and local teams remain ready to respond should the situation deteriorate.
