Iran says four tankers destroyed in Strait of Hormuz, two still burning

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that four oil tankers were destroyed after striking sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz, and said two of the vessels remain on fire.

The IRGC also reported that two other ships were seized after attempting to transit a route it described as forbidden.

Parliamentary warning and conditional offer of talks

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaker of Iran's parliament, warned that Washington risks further escalation if it continues military actions in the area.

The Iranian president said Tehran is ready for dialogue but tied reopening the Strait of Hormuz to U.S. acceptance of an Iranian peace plan. According to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the plan contains seven steps and "could be implemented within two days."

The Strait of Hormuz is a strategic chokepoint for global energy shipments; any military escalation or disruptions there can quickly raise insurance costs and divert commercial traffic. The IRGC's account has not been independently verified by international authorities at the time of this report.
