Iran launches strikes on U.S. targets in Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq and Bahrain

Iran launched rocket and drone strikes against American targets in Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq and Bahrain after U.S. forces continued strikes against sites inside Iran.

The Iranian Red Crescent said five people, including a child, were killed and more than 50 were wounded when a U.S. missile strike hit a house hosting a wedding celebration in southern Iran. The U.S. military said it was aware of the reports but that it never targets civilians.

Regional escalation after attacks and attempted strikes

U.S. Central Command said the American strikes on Iran followed recent attempts by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to attack a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. forces in the region. In response, the Guard announced it would make the United States regret the attacks and fired ballistic missiles at a U.S. maritime base in Aqaba, Jordan.

Jordanian Armed Forces reported they intercepted 13 ballistic missiles launched toward the kingdom. Officials in the region also said American facilities in Kuwait, Iraq and Bahrain were struck by Iranian rockets and drones.

The situation marks a sharp escalation in tit-for-tat strikes across the Gulf, with civilian casualties reported inside Iran and multiple states in the region targeted by Iranian forces.
