Israel to test Poland’s stamina before match with North Macedonia

North Macedonia's men's volleyball team had a rest day in Sofia on September 12, 2026, after starting EuroVolley with two straight defeats. The side coached by Joshko Milenkoski dropped 0-3 results against Bulgaria and Ukraine and used the free day to recover and prepare for their next match.

Tomorrow North Macedonia meet the reigning European champions Poland, who arrive as clear favourites after a convincing 3-0 victory over Portugal in the opening round. The Poles are widely considered title contenders and present a tough test for the Macedonian team.

Before that clash, Poland will play Israel today. Israel began the tournament with a 1-3 loss to Ukraine and will try to upset one of the frontrunners — a result that could also influence Poland's energy levels ahead of the meeting with North Macedonia.

For North Macedonia the priority is the Poland match: despite the gap in quality, the team has the opportunity to measure itself against one of Europe's best squads and to respond after the two opening defeats.

TODAY AT EUROVOLLEY 26:

  • 14:00 – Denmark – Netherlands
  • 15:00 – Poland – Israel
  • 16:00 – France – Turkey
  • 16:00 – Sweden – Czech Republic
  • 17:00 – Belgium – Finland
  • 18:00 – Bulgaria – Ukraine
  • 19:00 – Romania – Germany
  • 21:05 – Greece – Italy

North Macedonia will regroup in Sofia and finalise preparations ahead of the game with Poland, aiming to raise their level and show a better performance in tomorrow's encounter.
