Public prosecutors vote today to choose new head of OJO GOKK
187 public prosecutors will vote by secret ballot between five candidates; polling runs from 08:00 to 16:00 and results will be announced at a public session.

Today public prosecutors will elect a new head of the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption (OJO GOKK).
Through a direct secret ballot, a total of 187 public prosecutors with the right to vote will choose among five registered candidates: Faton Azizi, Trajche Pelivanov, Lidija Raicevic, Iskra Hadzi Vasileva and Jovan Cvetanovski. Polling stations will be open from 08:00 to 16:00.
Procedure and participants
The vote is conducted by a commission established by the Council of Public Prosecutors, composed of Ermon Neziri, Svetlana Stojkovic and Keti Petkova. After voting ends, the results will be tallied at a public session that will be broadcast live by the Macedonian Information Agency.
All five candidates presented their programmes at the Council of Public Prosecutors session on 13 October this year. Their platforms focus on strengthening investigative capacity, combating corruption and money laundering, financial investigations, improved efficiency in procedures and greater prosecutorial independence.
The call for applications to select the basic public prosecutor of OJO GOKK was published in the Official Gazette on 21 August this year. The procedure is being held because the mandate of the current head, Islam Abazi, has expired; he was chosen for the post in October 2022.
The outcome will determine the leadership of the office responsible for high-profile organized crime and corruption cases; the newly elected head will take over direction of investigations and prosecutions handled by OJO GOKK.
