09.09.2026 21:10 — Kazımcan Karataş will have to wait for his first appearance in the UEFA Champions League. The 23-year-old left-back was not included in Galatasaray's travelling squad for tonight's match in Lisbon against Sporting CP, a game that is currently under way.
Not in the Lisbon party
The absence means Karataş did not travel to Lisbon with the rest of the Galatasaray players. Club match-day lists published before kickoff did not contain his name, so he will miss the opportunity to make a Champions League appearance this evening.
Karataş, 23, is a left-back who recently changed his sporting nationality and is set to represent North Macedonia at international level. His switch in eligibility has raised expectations that he will be available for the national team in the near future, but the Champions League curtain remains closed for him tonight.
The decision to leave him out of the squad does not alter his confirmed status as a newly eligible player for North Macedonia. Supporters and national team staff who follow his club progress will now await the first occasion when he is named in a European match-day squad.
