A 66-year-old man reported to Kočani police that he handed over €18,000 after being told there was "black magic" in his home.
A 66-year-old resident of a village in the Kocani area reported that he was defrauded of €18,000 after several people convinced him there was "black magic" in his home and that his cash was needed to remove it.
Incident reported to police late on 24 September
The man filed the complaint on 24 September at 23:00 with the Kočani police station (OVR Kočani). According to his report, several individuals came to his house and, using false statements, misled him into handing over his money.
After the visitors left, the resident realized he had been deceived and immediately contacted the police to report the fraud.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has stated that measures are being taken to investigate the case and to determine the identities of the people who carried out the scam.
The police investigation is ongoing; authorities have not yet announced arrests or identified suspects.
