Bogdanka Kuzeska: Serbian media network entered North Macedonia suspiciously
SDSM demands answers from AVMU and the Financial Police after Euronews Macedonia teams were seen at government events without apparent permission.
SDSM spokesperson Bogdanka Kuzeska accused a Serbian media network of beginning operations in North Macedonia under suspicious circumstances and demanded clarity from regulators after a team from "Euronews Macedonia" attended a government press conference without an apparent licence.
At a government briefing two days ago, Kuzeska said she had seen a crew from Euronews Macedonia on site and raised questions about how the outlet was being treated by the authorities.
Questions for regulators and law enforcement
"How can they be present when they still do not have permission to operate? Obviously the Government of Hristijan Mickoski is already treating 'Euronews Macedonia' as a television channel and is giving it access to official government events. Wasn't there an announced investigation into the suspicious entry of the Serbian media machinery into Macedonia? After reactions from Macedonian broadcasters it was reported that the Financial Police opened a case and that the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services (AVMU) stopped the procedure. Does that mean the investigation has been suspended and things are being handled under the radar? How do Vučić's media operate in Macedonia? What is AVMU doing? Or are they turning a blind eye? What is Trajchevski doing? Does he know that media pirates are roaming the supposedly regulated space and that he could be criminally liable for that?"
Kuzeska argued the presence of Serbian outlets is already visible on Macedonian airwaves and accused them of running anti‑Macedonian and anti‑EU messaging.
She also linked the developments to wider political shifts, saying that policies copied from Hristijan Mickoski and associates have led to an expanding media influence from abroad, and warned of an approaching "media blackout" that would serve Russian interests and, in her words, "the organised criminal group of Mickoski." Kuzeska added that SDSM gives full support to independent media and journalists and recalled the party's fight against media darkness in 2015, vowing not to allow a return to the era of Nikola Gruevski.
The party also stated that "North Macedonia is first in Europe in the number of West Nile fever cases relative to population," a claim they reiterated alongside their media concerns.
