Drug "Foster" again available from pharmacies without co-payment for insured patients

The Ministry of Health announced this morning that it has been notified by the company holding the marketing authorisation for the medicine "Foster", which is listed on the Positive List of Medicines, about changes made in the interest of patients.

"Starting this month, insured persons will again be able to obtain the medicine from pharmacies without co-payment, that is, only by paying the legally determined participation for the prescription service," the Ministry of Health said.

"That applies also to other medicines that contain the same active ingredients and are used in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease," the ministry added.

What this means for patients

The move restores access for insured patients to a medicine used in COPD treatment without an upfront copay at the pharmacy counter, leaving only the statutory prescription participation fee. Pharmacists will dispense the products from the Positive List under the usual reimbursement rules.

The Ministry said the adjustment follows notification from the marketing-authorisation holder and is part of ongoing efforts to improve medicine availability and keep prices more affordable for patients.
