Ljupcho Pecov given two-year suspended sentence after guilty plea
The Criminal Court says Pecov pleaded guilty on 24 August 2026; the verdict became final on 21 September 2026 and includes fines and multi-year business bans.
Ljupcho Pecov, known as "Gjavolot", has been finally sentenced to two years in prison, but the term will not be executed provided he does not commit a new criminal offence within the next five years.
The Criminal Court issued the verdict after Pecov entered a guilty plea on 24 August 2026. Because neither party filed an appeal, the judgment became final on 21 September 2026.
Penalties and business restrictions
Alongside the suspended prison sentence, Pecov was ordered to pay a monetary fine of 8,000 euros. The court also imposed a subsidiary punishment: a ban on acting as a founder or manager of a legal entity, and on handling or disposing of a company's assets, for a period of ten years.
The legal entity DUTUD A.K.A.P. DOOEL, which is in bankruptcy proceedings, was fined 1,000,000 denars. In addition, the court imposed a set of five-year prohibitions on Pecov: a ban on obtaining permits, licences and concessions regulated by special law, a ban on participating in public procurement procedures, and a ban on founding new legal entities.
The Criminal Court said that when determining the sentence it took into account the need to preserve procedural balance among the accused in the complex criminal case. The court noted that other defendants had also pleaded guilty, compensated financial damage and had been given alternative measures in separate proceedings.
