North Macedonia the only European team without a goal in 2026

North Macedonia remains the only European national side yet to score a goal in 2026, a run that has intensified criticism of coach Goce Sedloski and his methods.

In competitive fixtures this year the team faced Denmark, the Republic of Ireland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Switzerland and Slovenia — collecting four defeats and two draws without finding the net.

Under Sedloski the side has gone 540 minutes without a goal; the total scoreless stretch reaches 607 minutes overall. Those figures underline the severity of the attack’s drought and the mounting frustration among supporters.

Reactions and coaching questions

Social media have been outspoken, with calls for resignations aimed not only at Sedloski but at the wider setup. Observers point to unclear tactics and a lack of visible plan for regaining form.

Sedloski himself has offered mixed public assessments: after one match he said some players "need to think about how they play," and two days later described his squad as his "golden boys." That contrast has done little to calm critics.

Critics also note the wider context: smaller associations such as Liechtenstein and Andorra have managed at least one goal in 2026, San Marino has scored three and Gibraltar eight, while North Macedonia remains goalless in six matches under Sedloski’s leadership.

With the situation increasingly described as a crisis by parts of the public, attention will turn to federation decisions and whether a new approach is planned for upcoming fixtures.
