North Macedonia drops two places to 71 in FIFA rankings

On October 7, 2026 the latest FIFA world ranking published today shows North Macedonia slipping two places to 71st following a run of four defeats in UEFA Nations League B.

Results and immediate consequences

The A national team lost twice to Switzerland and also suffered defeats against Scotland and Slovenia, a sequence that coincided with the drop from 69th to 71st in the global standings.

Within the same group, Switzerland rose to 12th place with a two-place gain, Scotland sits 43rd, and Slovenia climbed to 52nd, up four places. The next FIFA ranking will be released after the remaining two matchdays of the Nations League on November 18, 2026.

At the very top of the table there are no changes: Spain, Argentina, France and England remain the first four nations in that order.

The fall in ranking reflects recent competitive form but the calendar still offers two Nations League fixtures that could affect the standing next time, when FIFA recalculates points on 18 November 2026.
